The Tinemaha Project

LADPW owns and operates a storage dam on the Owens river.  It has a net head for hydropower over 20 feet and a flow near 600 CFS at fairly continuously. Our project is a fairly conventional hydropower project with small power plant just below the dam and power delivered to nearby distribution.

The following information is available:

This site will be expanded as the project progresses, and will contain all documents and reports as they are generated.

Preliminary discussions have been started with LADWP and local resource agencies.  Presently LADWP has exercised its authority and also filed and been granted a Preliminary Permit due to municipal preference.  KC has offered to work with LADWP.  There are seismic issues at this dam, and a hydropower license is issued, the dam would come under FERC jurisdiction.

Currently, it is felt generally that LADWP will not develop the project, but are using the FERC permitting process to obstruct development.  The actual reasons are unknown.

KC continues to be interested in input from any interested and concerned people.
